New Bedford, MA, USA Artist's Statement: As a jeweler, I strive to create brooches that express complimentary, yet opposing qualities. I relate to contrasting characteristics on a more personal level, and find meaning in their relationship to each other. Found deeply rooted in my work are feelings of constraint, or the tendency to hold back, existing alongside the desire to release and to let go. Fluid drapes and drooping ripples exist alongside unyielding, stoic elements, creating a dialogue. This dialogue develops from the transition of surface and form, where two characteristics collide, interact and have the opportunity to affect one another. Title: Callused (Shelter)
