Artist's Statement: Thinking about brassieres, corsets and high heel shoes, man has created an array of devices that modify the way our, specifically women’s, bodies are physically composed in accepted western dress. So what will future devices look like? As a metalsmith, I am constantly hunched over, for hours on end, working meticulously on the incessant details of my work at my bench. Knowing that posture is a common vice, I consider this object to be next in the line of devices to modify the position of our bodies.
